Armrest iPod connection being weird / Dension replacement
« on: November 11, 2012, 12:06:39 am »
Hi everyone,

I've got the factory iPod kit in my armrest and an RCD500 head and midline display.

Tonight the sound from the iPod started echoing. I tried my iPhone and got the same result. Turns out that if I hold the device slightly towards the drivers side, the sound goes back to normal. I think that the plug might be out of alignment. Is this a known issue?

Is it simple to pop the unit out? Similarly, is a cradle adaptor for the iPhone 4/ Nano 5g available at VW? Last time I asked, they said that the only way to get a compatible plastic cradle was to just get the MDI kit.

I've got an older style Dension 100 as a backup. Is it simple to replace the factory iPod kit with the 100? Will track names be shown on the RCD? Is quality better? Is there life on Mars?

Thanks
Dan
