Before my engine went bang, I fitted a balance shaft delete kit which included a new pick up pipe, I was thinking of transferring this kit over to my replacement engine.
Good or bad idea?

Until you find out what happened the engine I'd be very cautious in what i would transfer over... especially a balancer shaft delete

So I bought and fitted this engine...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264357898677
Took it out for the first time today and it seems down on power to my previous engine.
The engine I blew up has the same engine code AXX, only difference I can see is the Forge PCV delete.
And I don't get the DSG farts anymore that I had on my old engine.
What should I be looking at to get power back to as it was?

i would have thought the ECU holds the map not the engine. But the map would have been done to the old engine, so if it was a "custom" map then yes this could also have something to do with it.
before going any further, you will need to double check all work.. boost connections etc, and all the usual common failures. DV and so on.

Going to buy a new DV, what's the latest revision to get?
I've kept the turbo from the engine that I blew up and it looks new so I was thinking of swapping that over.
