Continental Tyres - Which Ones from Camskill?
« on: July 14, 2010, 01:11:55 pm »
Hi,

I need some help...

Ok, so I'm just about to buy a pair of Continentals for the rear of my Golf Gti (225/45/R17's) from Camskill.

Is it the Continental Sport Contact 3's 225/45/R17 94W XL FR TL's that I need? I notice they also have Sport Contact 2's etc etc...what are they for...?

What versions have you guys fitted to yours?

Thanks (am just nervous about ordering the wrong ones and don't want to have to send them back).

Ta

Russ

The difference will be the tread pattern, assuming the rest of the various figures are the same, I may be telling you something you already know but check this site out for what all the letter and numbers mean http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=33

and if in doubt see what you already have and get the ones that at least match or exceed these values.

As far as the two conti's are concerned looking at the conti website seems to imply that the contact 3's are a higher performance tire!

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.

Ive had both and found the limits fast with the Vreds. Thats not to say the vreds arent good.

Id be happy to have both, just prefer the contis! ;)

apparently the conti 5p is a pretty dam good tyre, and they are about the same price.

roughly £165 for a 19inch tyre!

The contact 3's have just won EVO magazines latest tyre test, think it was last month or the one before.

^ Indeed they did.

I'd just bought four ContiSport 3's for my Audi splits in 225/40/18 a week before that Evo mag was released.
TBH I'd have recommended them anyway as I think they feel excellent in both wet and dry.

Having had both C/Sport 2's and 3's on my GTI and other vehicles, I don't think you can go wrong with either but as the CS3's are newer, seems the obvious choice unless there's a big difference in the prices you find.

yes but they wernt compared against the pilot sport 3s or eagle F1s etc.  It looked like it was the middl range of premiumbrands compared
