Tyres on Mk6 GTI
« on: March 28, 2009, 02:09:49 pm »
I've just been reading the review of the mk6 GTI in the new issue of EVO magazine, and noticed with interest that their car was fitted with Michelin Pilot Exalto tyres and not Pilot Sport 2.

This all leads me wondering if EVO's slightly lukewarm response to the new car would be any different if the mk6 was fitted with PS2s?

i don't think so. they said it still gripped well in the corners with its new electric LSD.

they are just spoilt on power that's all. Henry C (who did the article) drove the Focus RS and R26R only the month before. and 207bhp these days is not that much really.

so his view is valid, the Mk6 GTI is just a car for the masses that offers good VFM and practicality as a daily car. unlike the FRS / R26R.

Per EVO, the Mk5 got 5/5, the Mk6 gets 4.5/5.

Thanks, but I meant Top Gear.

The review of the mk5 is in issue 103 of EVO if anyone is sad efficient enough to keep them.

It is listed as having Dunlop SportMaxx tyres as well...
