They should do but as there are two versions of the latest firmware (red_dot and white_dot) it's prudent to flash the unit again before installation with the known correct firmware.

I have 1K0 907 530 L gateway and basic polar FIS (not sure what firmware), am I safe to install?

Yes! L and above gateways should have no battery drain issues.
The Polar FIS is no longer officially supported but I would update it's firmware to the latest v1.6.0 for stability reasons if running an earlier firmware version.

I installed a 7NO gateway in September as I was getting the rns510 but my polar with firmware version 0.2.7 didn't like it as the radio and nav disappeared when scanned with vcds. Without the polar connected everything was fine.

After getting alot of support from polar including a then bespoke firmware that only partially helped, I resorted to reinstalling my old "non RNS510 compatible" F gateway. Everything works fine with no battery drain. The only silent issue I have is a non urgent error in vcds for the nav which works faultlessly. I may try the 7NO gateway in the future but at this time I see no urgent need to change even with the latest firmware supporting 7NO gateways.

We're not sure, it was purchased from a member on here. We didnt have it long and never had a chance to fit it. I wonder if theres a way to tell if you connect it to a computer.

Once its connected to the Polar update service it will tell you what firmware version it has installed  :happy2:

I reupdated the firmware as per polars request tonight then tried the unit in the car

Has made no difference at all, still no audio or polar menus and I still have the airbag warning

I swapped over can gateways today to the original one from the car and it made no difference at all

Put the 7no gateway back in and I got a steering wheel icon in the rev counter and the car would not start (ran for a second then cut out)

I have totally removed the polar unit and the car runs now but I still have the airbag fault, steering wheel icon and have lost the audio menu on the MFD

I have orderd a VCDS cable from gendan will I be able to get the audio menu back?

I assume you disconnected your battery again then got the steering wheel light. If yes, turn the car on, turn the steering fully to the left and hold for a few seconds then turn fully to right, hold for a few seconds after that straighten/center the steering wheel and drive slowly for a few metres dead straight. the light should extinguish itself.

Does your head unit actually work and output sound? I can only postulate that somehow your radio/nav unit isn't being detected by the canbus hence no audio menu. A vcds scan will show if this is the case.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is a hardware issue with these new black polar units as the new firmware works a treat with the old silver version. Two members with the same issue seems more than coincidence...

I would try clearing all the faults and rescan as you get loads of errors when you disconnect the gateway.
Also I see that you've put your old gateway back in. Do you actually have a telefone kit installed?
