Boys day out (Friday 3rd July)
« on: July 02, 2009, 07:15:00 pm »
Hi there,

I don't suppose anyone here can meet us, but we're embarking on a bit of Boys day out tomorrow... and if anyone is in the neighbourhood they are welcome to join us.

2 GTIs, 1 Mini Cooper S, 1 Focus ST are in right now..

Trip is

Start: 6.00AM  Meet at: Parking area on Zuidplantsoen (behind a TU building) in Delft NL.

We'll drive to Spa-Francorchamps, a historic race track in Belgium. There's a weekend of classic car racing (50s/60s/70s Racers) going on there so we will attend the qualifying sessions which start at 9.00. Attendance is free, and we can walk the paddock!
There is some seriously awesome stuff there...

The drive there is about 2h40min. It's not the most fun part of our driving but we have to get out of here somehow...

We will stay there 1-2 hours.

Next we'll drive what should be an awesome route from Spa to the Nurburgring.

It's 3h30min according to Google but I think we'll be somewhat quicker... We'll have lunch somewhere along the road. It will lead us through hills and lakes etc.

This is the route we're going to take:

Here's a list of waypoints:
N62c to Burnenville
N68 to Longfaye
N647 and N669 to Leykaul
then Widdau
Einruhr
Rurberg
(lap around lake)
Wolfgarten
Kall
Bad Munstereifel
Ahrbruck
Herschbach
Jammelshofen

The Nurburgring opens at 14.15, and we'll probably be there by then. We will stay about 2 hours.

Then we get to the autobahn. We will head out to Ulmen first, turn onto E44. Then E35 all the way. That's about 3hrs to Arnhem. Plus 1h15 back to Delft.

Sorry mate but even for a UK road trip that's seriously short notice.  :surprised:
I hope you have a great time  :happy2: Spa should be awesome.

....

That 'southern' Spa to Nurburgring route is far better than the one further north and closer to Koln - More twisties and quieter and very nice on the fast parts past Spa. Beautiful countryside.

Enjoy Safe but Fun Journeys! :happy2:

Great cars, great pics (except the last few of yours aren't loading - Now they are).

Surely they aren't allowing coaches on The Ring!? I thought they were going to be banned - They ought to be!!

Years since I've seen a Marcos!
