uprated ARB drop links - front and rear
« on: October 20, 2009, 04:44:05 pm »
OK, following on from Mats thread here - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1513 - I need to seriously address the standard ARB drop links.

I'm running the Whiteline adjustable ARBs front and rear, and have already had the rear drop links replaced once, about three months ago, and that was after only two months on the softest rear setting.  Now running at medium front and rear - and the fronts are quite 'sloppy', and the rears looked well fooked after just another couple of months - so the drop links are defo a weak link.

So what are the full options for uprated ARB drop links, ta muchly!  :happy2:

They are the only one's I know of too Matt. The BSH one's look the most substantial.

So does anyone do a matched pair?

I quite like my socks to match my Y-fronts!   (cue some funny pic from Top Cat!)

And linkies to the KW, BSH and Neuspeed ones, TVM.

Don't really think those BSHs are as good as the Neuspeed ones!

Any others?

I would defo buy the neuspeed rears over the bsh ones just down the design and the angle of how they join to the arb and the car

I think Whiteline do their own, they're in the Tweeks catalogue. MKV specific rears and universal fronts in various lengths.
Sideways yo!

I found the Whiteline rose-jointed universal drop links, but I couldn't find any specific to the Mk5?  Or did you mean those S shaped poly bush drop links?

Sean, someone gave me a nod about this question, so as I pointed you in the direction initially I'll help as much as I can - I'm not a complete tool.

I've tried looking on their website and it is a bit of a mess with lots of stuff missing. However, in their Motorsport (red) catalogue there's 3 listings for droplinks:

The Spherical droplinks for the MKV rear, the 'S' shaped ones and the universal ones. There's no picture of the latter, so it's hard to know if it will work? You'll probably know better once you've had chance to look yourself.

The latter I think is the ones you'd be interested in for the front (myself too actually), they come in 2 different types; bushed and something else that escapes me at the moment as I've left the catalogue in work. There's about 10 different adjustable lengths of each ranging from 90-100ish mm up to 380-400ish mm from memory.

I guess it's a case of measuring the GTI's fronts and seeing if there's something applicable.
Sideways yo!
