Aaron's US Spec (LHD) 07 MKV GTI - Pic Heavy!
« on: July 10, 2014, 03:00:35 pm »
So new to the forums here and I have some time to throw out some pictures from what I have done to my GTI.  Although I should have been taking proper pictures over the years, but with moving overseas and working on my degrees just never snapped enough pics.  Here is what I got so far...

Start with the Interior - Stock-ish..

Boost Gauge in Drivers Vent, "Golf Ball" shifter...

Euro Dash Cubby

New Buttons so my ESP button wasn't so lonely  :drinking: - of course they have to light up too! (Iwonder if I can add the TPMS button and get it coded out here? hmm).

KUDA Mount for well anything, but added their iPhone kit to use with my APR Mobile Dongle and GPS while in the US.

Love the plaid so much had to add it to my steering wheel emblem

Rear Tray with Cargo Net - You never see these in the States. Oh and ECS Boot/Hatch pop kit too.

Uber Stealth Audio Subwoofer Box and Tool Rack mounted around my spare tire!  Great sound out of that 10' sub too!  (At the 2014 VAG Show I think I hit over 95-96 decibels with that little speaker!)

Close ups..
Sub Box

Tool Rack (these pieces can be taken out and are just static laying onto the carpeted cutout piece of wood they are laying on).

Exterior/Engine

Forge FMIC - One of my favorite pics of my GTI

Filled in notch in the hood and shaved grill.  US Millworks Plate tow hook mount (had to cut out a decent size of the fog grill though - will never see it though).

LED City lights and Yellow Fogs to use without Headlights on (I don't know if this is a normal function out here in the UK).

Oh and someone asked if I had shaved the side markers from my front bumper.  Nope just had them painted Candy White to blend in, but they still function with I turn on my city lights.  Look much better at night.

A few pics of my engine bay at the moment.  Carbon bits everywhere    Forge Black metal Cap replacements for Oil, Washer Fluid and Reservoir.
Red Nuespeed filter - this is my daily filter..
Side view

Top view

White Nuespeed Filter - I use this only at meets and shows...  I need to remove the Nuespeed red stick from my CAI piping though, it throws off the eye from the white.

Top view

42 Designs Oil Catch Can - Powder Coated Matte Black

Forge Black Caps - Oil, Washer Fluid, and Reservoir

R32 Smoked Euro Tails with clear fog lens- I have a separate set without any color in the blinkers/fogs (had to have the amber for UK MOT laws, I kinda like it though).

&

Tinted Signal Markers - Just got a set of UK Side Mirrors though w/Puddle Lights so will be going through the joy of trying to figure out how to get these set up on my car  :jumping:

Milltek Exhaust from the old OEM exhaust.  I had this shaved with my Thunderbunney Rear, had to cut into it to mount the Milltek though.
APR Turboback exhaust to the Milltek though and APR Stage 2+ tuned.

&

Sitting on Koni Yellows and H&R Springs.

Rolled fenders in the front for my 3SDMs 0.05 White w/Chrome trim.  25" ftg in front and 25.25" ftg in rear.  I will be going lower when I find a good set of coilovers.

Oh I know from my intro thread that I should change out my rims, but in the US these are SUPER rare wheels.  This particular par was the last set in the US for 2013.  But being a UK company I bet they are a dime a dozen out here HaHa!  So I am looking for a proper set of BBS LMs.  Once I sell of my OEMs I'll pick up these if I can find a solid set.

And a few pics from the 2014 VAG Show out here in the UK

Oh and Just Chillin' in the Garage

Thanks for checkin' out my GTI.  As in my intro thread, I plan on further mods too...
- Just ordered a set of Folding mirrors w/puddle light and modules - so hoping I can mount these and get them working on my US Spec
- VCDS ordered just waiting on delivery (should be any day now)
- APR Stage 3 w/K04 this fall just waiting for the rainy season before I give up my GTI for a week or so.
- Try and find a RNS 510 and get it working in my car - I have a crap aftermarket Kenwood now, would like to have a nice clean stock looking interior.

Awesome

So it's a left hand drive US car that's been imported to the uk?

Do you live here now?

Or am I totally wrong?  :ashamed:

Yep LHD GTI I had brought with me when I moved over here a few months ago.  I wish I had a right hand drive though, would be killer to drive one over here for bit.

Right on, thanks man!  Yup moved from the D.C. Area, east coast US, and I'm in the Suffolk area now.  Still trying to get my bearings with locations and distances, IP27 area, I know there is more for the post codes, but that gives the area though right?

Just need to find some other VW owners out here and see if there are any meets and such to start going to.
