RNS 510 Firmware
« on: August 26, 2009, 12:48:46 pm »
If those of you that have one don't know you can update the firmware.

The latest is Version 26XX (last 2 X's will be different depending on your model. i.e Golf is different to Passat but all firmwares are on one disc)

The download location is:

http://rapidshare.com/files/269960256/skoda-auto.part1.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/269960259/skoda-auto.part2.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/269960261/skoda-auto.part3.rar.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/269960260/skoda-auto.part4.rar.html

Password: octaviars20tdi

Be warned though neither i nor MK5GolfGti.co.uk will be held responsible if anything goes wrong. You undertake the firmware upgrade process at your own risk

Gives the following functionality

Voice control (requires oem Bluetooth & MFSW)
Speed limit display
Display both OPS and rear cam ( like audi)
SDHC 32 GB (dubious to this as i would imagine its Hardware related not firmware but will see when mine is done)
Switch off display
Menu for setting climatronic on screen
Clock on display when RNS/Columbus is shut down

i doubt that climatronic would work on screen.

i think it would only work with the new climatronic on the mk6

Ok here are the pics for the New stuff on 2664 firmware. (VW units will prob read 2660 iirc)

I know it's Skoda but as i said all units are basically the same just coded slightly different for VW/Seat/Skoda etc

Sorry for the crap pics i took them on the piephone whilst in the car

1. Firmware done (sorry didnt take a pic as i was loading)

2. Menu Showing how to get Speed Limit Display

3. Switch Off Display Setting

4. SD Card entries now viable for Navigation (not sure if they had this before ive never noticed it)

5. New "excluded roads" route Option

6. Visual Balance & Fader

7. Pic Of DVD Menu

8. DVD Working

9. Showing time on Map Display and New Menu enabling Display Switch Off

10. New Style Start up Image (colours more vibrant)

11. Showing Software info (if your wondering why i have a 3T0 unit its because i upgraded my 1Z0 to a 3T0 for some extra functionality a while back if you have 1Z0 it will remain 1Z0) VW will show 2660 i think

12. A couple showing the Road your on Speed Limit display

13. New Volume Bar

14. Showing Clock with unit Off

I know those with a MK2 Superb with this unit from the factory will have a lot of this but for those with 1Z0 units i'd defo recommend it.

The unit seems a lot more responsive aswell and if your wondering why the number of Satellites shown is so small the unit does that after a firmware update for some reason i now get 8/8 satellites.

As for SDHC not sure yet but as soon as i know i will update this thread

If anyone wants any help feel free to PM or ask

HTH

Im getting my RNS510 tomorrow. Does your firmware version have to be a specific level before upgrading to this revision?

Nope it upgrades all firmware versions so im told

I went from 1004 - 1024 - 0904 (changed to superb unit style but still an upgrade despite the lower number) and now 2664

So in essence i upgraded from 09XX firmware to 26XX firmware with no problem

Carl, good to know.

Any chance of sending me a copy of the DVD in the post if i send you a paypal donation, as Rapidshare is horrendous. It will take me 3 hours to download at this rate lol as i have just hit my download limit for the day.  :scared:

Oh, does anyone have the latest maps too?

rapid share is well worth the 5 quid per month, i downloaded that in about 3 mins!

Right ive come to do the firmware update and i got the

invalid clamp state message.

now ive had this before and changed my 12hr clock to 24 and then it worked. but it still wont work.

maybe this is a sign to say "dont do it, youll brick your system" lol

Right, so I stumped up the €6.99 to download it (on a shared work connection so had to)....

What do I need to burn it with? Onto a CD or DVD?

Nero or similar to Burn it

It all fits on a CD just burn it at the slowest speed possible and make sure you verify it when done otherwise you may brick your unit
