My Mk5 Golf GTI
« on: February 03, 2014, 12:05:42 pm »
So I thought I would finally post up my build thread so far.

So I'm Greig, I'm from Aberdeen and recently bought this mk5. I have known the car since 2006 and have always dreamed of owning it. For info, this is my 14th VW, after a few Mk2's, R32, Lupo GTI's etc.

So I sold the R32 -  it was an ace car, but not too practical on the day to day commute now that I work in Dyce, and I got an offer I really couldn't refuse. The new owner will definitely look after too which is great to know.

So this is how it currently stands

Specs:

BBS CH Reps
FK Coilovers
Custom Code Remap
Carbonio Intake
FMIC
Milltek Non Res Cat Back
Smoothed Grille - Grey with Orange Stripe
Open Fog Vents
Dewipered
Private plate & euro surround (awaiting my docs to come through)
DVD/Nav/iPod head unit
Sharan aerial
R32 Rear Lights

Full retrim in Orange leather

Trip to Glenshee in January.

My plans are simple

Tidy up interior
Change all the interior handles for new ones
Mk6 Chrome switches
Mk6 Steering Wheel
Summer Wheels
Us Bumpers

And enjoy DRIVING and SHOWING it

If you made it to the bottom, thanks for reading and comments welcome

So a few updates.

Mk6 switches are here. Ordered up new interior handles, passenger side came, as did another passenger side. Its been sent back for a drivers one and should be here tomorrow so I can get it all swapped over and looking minty fresh.

Next was the gearknob. Always loved the votex one that lomax had in his mk5 (mk4 anniversary without the red GTI). It finally came last week, and I added my alcantara and orange stitching gaitors I ordered to match.

Summer wheels also arrived today. Got them for a pretty penny with tyres, no kerbing, but do need repolished .

Thank you .

I live in Aberdeen, so about 45 miles or so to get to Ballater. So I go out that way at least once a month for drive, and slightly further afield in the summer months

Gearknob was from German Ebay and is a votex mk5 one. Its about £100 but also comes with a Mk5 gaitor and clips.
