Welcome & indeed a very fun car to drive :happy2:😉
Enjoy it! And as mentioned above… keep an eye on timingbelt, camfollower & chain.
Plug a scantool on it. Regular fluid changes for engine and gearbox… and you’ll have fun forever😊

Plugs have been out, they look fine. Swapped those around too. Compression test i’ll do tomorrow although i doubt its low on compression simply because of the way its running, theres definitely no power loss and no smoke.

Probably worth taking the plugs out and inspecting them. Not doubt cylinder 3 plug will standout from the others if thats where the issue lies.

After that a compression test and/or a camera into the bore would be a good place to start so you can determine if mechanically all is well.

Mk5 General Area / Help with misfire!
« Last post by Mod29 on October 29, 2025, 08:37:10 am »
Hello all, 08 BWA engine developed a misfire BUT only at low rpms under WOT. Does it alot more when the engines cold, for example if im in say 4th at 1500 rpm i’ll get multiple misfires wot until around 3.5k then it’ll stop completely and pull happily to redline. Does not do it from a standstill foot to the floor 1st through all the gears. Literally only at very low rpm in a high gear full throttle.

No codes, or eml whatsoever.

I have vcds, detected 1 or 2 misfires in cylinder 1 and loads in cylinder 3, did the usual swap coils (still the original coils bare in mind) no change.

Injectors where swapped last year for recons (genuine) symptoms for that was basically engine wouldn’t rev or make any boost, totally different from what I’m experiencing now.

Vacuum seems to be good, pcv’s working. What else can i look at? Carbon build up seems to be mentioned alot. However when i did the injectors the build up didn’t seem to be that bad.

Any help to what direction to go is appreciated!

Performance Modifications / Decat recommendations, 1.6 FSI
« Last post by jake on October 27, 2025, 07:31:59 pm »
I have a MK5 1.6 FSI and it currently has a cat back exhaust on at the moment, I've done a bit of research and noticed it has 2 cats. I have looked into a decat pipe for the secondary cat and cant manage to find anything for the 1.6 fsi engine if any one knows where I can get a pipe from that would be great or even the dimensions I need to be able to get one fabricated
