Oil pick up pipe in sump

Carbon clean the intake valves......lots of info on that one (make sure you have a full set of injector seals ready)

Injector and HPFP filter baskets will be about die if not changed (most are overlooked) misfires when everything else is done will most probably point to these filters breaking down and blocking/ruining injectors

I have also ordered a new Cam follower to replace the existing one, I have no idea if it's been done before but thought i'd do it anyway just to make sure. What else do I need to look at, is there anything else that you would suggest is something i need to check or add to the above list?

Nice to see you’re diving straight in with all the service bits sorted, that’s half the battle right there! Definitely worth checking the cam phaser/chain timing like others have mentioned, and give the usual suspects like hoses and mounts a once-over while you’re in there too. Hey, thanks for the reply. Just borrowed another code reader and its the rear left speed sensor. Thanks for the tip I'll look to replace the hub aswell. That explains why I couldn't reset the steering light, cheers.

It's most likely the abs sensor ring on one of the axles, the rear seem to be the most common. The ring rusts and either a chunk falls off or it swells and contacts the sensor itself and damages it. If it is the rear the you'll likely need to change the complete hub with  bearing as well as the sensor. You wont be able to reset the steering light until the abs problem has been fixed.

    A Cruise Control wire with correct connector pins attached and protective shielding.

    It connects from the Blue ECU Control Box plug [T12b Pin 4] to the Steering Wheel Controller [T20b Pin 13] if one was not fitted to your car from factory.

    Ideal for a retrofit, but you will also need an appropriate stalk before coding the car. (Stalk and coding are NOT included)

    Cheers both. I have swapped the ignition housing (not a nice job at all) and what I did in order for my old key to be able to do both the ignition and the door is take the old lock cylinder and fit it to the new ignition barrel. The key now turns freely and car now starts fine but I have an issue.

    The remote fob doesn’t work and also when I turn the ignition off the radio and lights stay on  :doh:

    My first thought was the ignition switch, the new housing came with an ignition switch already attached but this housing is not a genuine part so wondering if it is faulty in some way.

    Any other suggestions?

    Hi mate, did you ever manage to fix this issue? I felt like I had written that as it's exactly the same. I've got it cutting out after a drive on the motorway, changed the tandem pump and lift pump and won't start again after it cuts out unless I spray in easy start. It's left me in some precarious positions as well! Please let me know if you've sorted it! Cheers

    Hi,

    Sorry disclaimer its not a gti, its 1.9 tdi. But this was one of the more active uk based forums I could find.

    I was wondering if anyone in the north west Wrexham/Chester area has VCDS that would be willing to scan the codes please.

    Typically my ABS & Traction light have just come on when my MOT is booked in for tomorrow....

    Additionally I disconnected the battery and now have the power steering light illuminated as well. I have tried the reset procedure lock to lock for 10 seconds and followed by a short drive but no luck.

    Is the windscreen genuine or a replacement, as a replacement may possibly not have been fitted correctly.

    Sunroof drains gets blocked and overflow into the cabin if you have one.
