Stupid electric fuel filler flap has decided to play up, it has not locked in the time I've had the car now it sometimes gets stuck unlocked or locked. 

New actuator required, looks a bit of a faff to do as well.

Fitted new fuel flap actuator part from VW £45 + VAT.

Pretty easy to do, torx 20 screw inside the fuel flap then prize the fuel flap and holder out with a plastic trim tool.

Three more torx20 inside the boot to remove the parcel shelf support right hand side to access the wiring plug

Refitting reverse of removal.

Due a service in about 20 days so I fitted a cabin filter and air filter. Need to get it on mates ramp to do the oil and filter etc

Got the rest of the service parts today, Shell Helix Ultra ECT Multi 5W-30 5L engine oil, Bosch fuel and oil filters.

A refurbished BWA engine starts from 3.5k euro here(netherlands). Im sure you can source engines second hand somewhere but who knows what state that would be in.

Thought id upload a picture of the cam.

I kinda want a sedan. Leaning towards the giulia and S3 limousine. A45 AMG is faster tho and have always really loved how they looked, especialy in white with the aero package. Still have to save up a bit so enough time to change my mind many times haha.

Damn. That's all I can really say.. 3200 for a head rebuild is crazy. I could probably get my whole engine forged for that. I can buy a whole used k03 engine for 800 to 1000 tops and a k04 engine for 2000. for 1.5k I could get used s3 cams, new rocker arms and lifters, have the head machined and refurbed lol

Mine is not looking that great either. There's a piece of my inlet cam on cyl 3 missing and it's misfiring on almost every single try on cyl 3 at idle. I'll have to get mine done as well next year for sure.

Good luck on your next car hunt! Get a mk7 cause those things are sexy and make great power with just a stage 1!

What issue(s) are you seeing with your present gear box?

Car is driving for around 10-15 minutes then going into limp mode. R tech have had a look at it & said it needs a whole new box , a family friend’s vw specialist has said it needs a new mechatronics unit aswell. Got the flashing PRNDS when this happens.
