To fit the aluminium hubs you will need the longer bolts that hold the brake carrier and shouldered nuts for the bottom joints and track rod ends.
I have the part numbers if needed .
Are you fitting anti lift bushes at the front?

Ok no worries, cheers for the advice like, aye the part numbers would be good if you’ve got them, I might leave it for now since I’ve got all of the bits already and I’ve spent a fortune already haha, but defo useful for future, especially if I end up mapping it (it’s stock at the moment)
Same story for the anti lift bushings, probs will do but at a later date - do they give much advantage? I’ve read reviews of them like but was unsure if it made much difference on a stock car?
Plan at the moment is to just get everything as new as possible as a good base

« Last post by rex on June 24, 2026, 05:48:30 pm »With the oil consumption problem hopefully fixed, I continued with the maintenance items needed for my next track day (July 24th hopefully):
- new clutch
- new engine mounts
- new gearbox oil
All went smooth.
The OE clutch plate and pressure plate were worn but not excessively (this is after ~150k km). But the pressure release bearing was a bit shot...
The OE clutch is Sachs, very similar to the OEM I bought.
The engine mounts were in a good condition but I just don't want to have any issues shifting so I changed them with Lemforder ones:
The gearbox oil was very expensive, about 100 GBP/litre from the Dealership, without discount... With discount it got to ~60 GBP.
Now the clutch feels surreal. At first I thought the slave cylinder was leaking or not attached or something... It is so light and smooth is feels like a clutch used in a simulator.
After I took the car back home, I had to switch to the Porsche (as to pick one of my kids from kindergarten) and the clutch in the Porsche feels like a proper one, not a toy one :).
Hopefully all the problems are solved and I am going to enjoy the car for a long time :).

Oh and in reply to your earlier question that I hadn’t answered - the engine in the MK1 is an AJQ (180 engine from a TT but with DBW throttle essentially)

« Last post by mk1mad on June 23, 2026, 09:57:46 pm »Yes they will bolt up with s3 brakes, the s3 has them fitted as well, but sellers ask more because they are s3. If you are fitting s3 brakes defo worth doing. S3 brakes are heavy.
They are a lot lighter which improves steering feel and helps the suspension, do a search on here lots of info on it.

I have a set to go on mine when I do my suspension overhaul.
Cheap as chips these days if you get them from a passat b6 breaking.
Which bolts at the front snapped ?
I have heard of this mod but tbh I never knew the advantage of them? Does it give any benefit or is it just because they don’t rot out/slightly less weight?
I have a set of S3 brakes to go on the front too so not sure if they are compatible?
The last two bolts for the passenger side wishbone bush (the two 16mm that go through the ally block) - shame cos the other two flew out!

Thanks for sharing the photos of your seat frames, did you use some old mk1 seat frames and did you add the handle to be able to adjust them ? Or are they fixed just for you to use ?
I need to make mine easy to adjust so my wife can use it.
Yeah just some old MK1 rails that I chopped up - initially i got some scirocco ones which had the tilt function but they were just way too high!
I wanted to add the handles but to be honest it was too much faff, I can still pull the pin in and out let them slide but tbh I am the only one who really drives it so it just stays put - I’ve kept the handles though to fit eventually if I can be bothered haha
Aye my wife doesn’t even like being a passenger let alone driving the thing 😂 shes just happy that it keeps me happy
