When I got the car I noticed that the interior grab handles were quite worn and looking at the how to's on mk5gti.co.uk I decided that this was a job i'd like to do. When I put an order in for my service bit's from TPS I also ordered the three trim parts I needed. With this I also decided to change the headlight switch, window switches and fuel switch to the newer mk6 type.
So having got the car back from VW today I decided to get them swapped over.

Passenger SideTo start we used the trim removal tool to separate the two plastic pieces, the top one is held in by two t30 screws, we removed these and then thought the handle would then come away...

However, the handle is also held in by two screws at the back so it meant we would have to remove the door card to gain access.
The replacement

We then took the door card off, the door card itself is held in place by 4 t20 screws one on the side and three along the bottom

I then located the two t20 screws to undo, the handle then came away and we reversed the process
