So with the MOT coming up this month I decided to fix the only advisory the car got last year; the high level brake light.
Volkswagen would charge just under £400 to do this job as they say that you need to remove the rear spoiler to access the light. Having read up online I decided to do the fix myself. So on the day I had my cruise control fitted I nipped to TPS to get the new one.

The advisory last year was High level brake light not illuminating but not more than 50%
Before

The light appears to have let water in over the years which i'm guessing why some of the led's have stopped working, a comparison;

The new one

So we started by drilling a hole into the old one to break the cover

We then used a screwdriver in the hole we made to use to push out the old light

We then pulled the wire out to expose the connector

All connected and tested to make sure it worked

And fitted

Finally I angled the rear screen washer jet to the right so will not be directly towards the light.
