ABS unit compatibility
« on: September 06, 2018, 06:41:45 pm »
Hi, my 2008 GTI abs module pump part number is 1KO 614 517 BD. Would 1KO 614 517 H fit my vehicle? I take it, it will need coding afterwards anyway.

Thanks

Pretty sure AC is the last of the short coding 2wd drive pumps.
Pretty sure AB is the last of the short coding 4wd drive pumps.
BD alphabetically is later than ones above so with long coding & different wiring

When you find one, if different revision, you'll then need to check if it came off a 2wd or 4wd car as they aren't compatible.

To be fair, unless you want to research, best just look for the same as you have!
Will still need coding, but that's the easy part.

Out of interest, is it possible to retrofit the MK6 XDS ABS unit to a MK5?

When something breaks, I always look for an opportunity to upgrade

Thanks fo the replies. Unfortunately my exact part number unit is very hard to come by and I can’t seem to find any used ones for sale. As for rebuilding the unit I have, I can’t afford to have my car off the road for several days while Its being sent off.

Do you know if any other part numbers or end suffix’s are compatible with my car?

Thanks

Replace it with MK60EC1 abs unit - this got hill hold etc.

I've got a MK60EC1 HW31 unit on my mk5, upgrading due it now to a MK60EC1 H46 due to side assist and some other retrofits it has to work with.

So incase you need a mk6 pump I got one for sale.

Yes, SI-R32 has done it to his R32 and made a DIY topic here explaining what's required.

I can help you with the coding, or contact Alex Retro or Eddie-NL.

For track use I prefer my older GTI ABS pump without XDS. Driving on roundabouts with XDS is awesome, though. :driver:

Hi Hen1234

I have the same ABS pump as you, mine is faulty and need a new one. I was able to source two second hand abs pumps.

1) 1K0 614 517 T
2) 1K0 614 517 AE

I am not sure if those are compatible with my car. Not sure if you can help or someone on this forum can.
