Steering Angle Sensor fault
« on: August 24, 2019, 08:10:04 PM »
Hi everyone - hopefully someone here is able to help.
The ESP light came on some time ago on my car but the first garage said it was a recall so we planned on booking it in before the MOT, Volkswagen wanted nothing to do with it so it essentially got picked up in the MOT, with the hope a local garage could fix it.

The has now failed the MOT due to the failure code:

00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
000 - -
Freeze Frame:

The mechanic at the garage quoted me the cost for one part, sorry I can't remember what it was, but that didn't fix it. He is now recommending a new angle sensor?

Something probably quite important but I guess the same rules apply, my car is an 05 golf plus - I need the part 1K095354BK but it's proving quite difficult to find, how about ordering a similar part?

Either https://www.autodoc.co.uk/era/7068767 or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-VEM-Steering-Angle-Sensor-V10-72-1264-Top-German-Quality/401853908919?epid=248954531&hash=item5d905c07b7:g:IV4AAOSwhIZbEqwn#vi-ilComp .

It says they are compatible but I'm not sure I trust it...

I would really appreciate any help of experience with similar problems!

Thank you in advance
