Intake valves

I did a boroscope in my intake valves today and these are the pics. What do you guys think of it’s gunk condition? Bare in mind its a 06 GTI FSI.

They look well covered in soot, walnut blasting would sort that, then maybe a catch can to help prevent, it won't stop it getting covered in soot again but will help slightly...

If you go to the likes of R-tech, they could test your injectors when or if you get the walnut blasting done... 2 birds 1 stone... :driver:

To me the soot is sitting on top of the valve ring. Apart from that the stems and surroundings looks ok to me. You think so?
Btw this is a 15 year old mk5 GTI

That is barely any build up at all compared to some.  I certainly wouldn't bother stripping it down for a clean up at that level of build up.

It's mostly the short journey cars, or worn out engines, that suffer the worst build up.  Keep the revs and engine heat up and the carbon won't stick so much.

These were mine after 118k
Before and after Walnut blasting.
Had a misfire due to build up and the difference afterwards was night and day.

Nice and clean now huh. I bet drives alot better.
Somehow mine was never that thick with gunk thankfully..

Probably depends on city driving vs motorway driving im guessing.
But was sooooooo much nicer to drive now.
