VW Racing
« on: March 24, 2010, 02:04:47 pm »
First off I'd honestly recommend them to anyone after today.

Basically I rang up VW Racing last week about issues with the gearbox and what I thought was a problem. Matt sorted me out and squeezed me in to a tight schedule for one of their lads to have a look at my car and to see what they thought of it.

Popped down this morning and was shown around the shop and the cars. Then a youngish lad with a long hair (think his name was Craig, not entirely sure as I'm crap with names) had a gander over the car and took it for a spin. He certainly knew what he was on about and certainly put my mind at ease with regards to what I thought the problem was and that it was nothing to worry about.

Best of all they were really friendly and didn't charge me a penny for the 20 minutes or so that he spent going over the car.

Safe to say I'll be making the 200 mile round trip again in the future for any work that I need doing on either this car or hopefully the rocco if things go to plan.

Once again I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone and they know what their on about with regards to VAG and especially MK5's.

One happy customer
If you have to ask why, you'll never understand.

x 2

I'm happy to drive 170 miles each way for them to service and look after my car.

Their priority is the race series of course, but they always do all they can and give you 100% when it's your turn.

Not wishing to get into a slanging match again, but I believe in reporting all, warts and all.

I have had several problems with VWR's work, but then I have had problems with other dealers too.  As per my other post VWR are not superhuman, as some would have you think, they do make cock-ups, and have done so on my car, and others, (Last trip to the Ring should refresh memories).

The most refreshing aspect is when you can engage with them, they are tenacious in their wish to assist and rectify, and we get there in the end.  Hats off for that to VWR.

IMO they should separate the Race and Road aspects of the business.

Overall they are knowledgeable, but as posted are very busy with the race side.

Thank you Matt,  That is what I said reiterated.  VWR are not superhuman.  They have been extremely tenacious with their help, with respect to the Quaife (Chocolate) Diff.

I think they are one of the better tuners out there, however they are only human, and do at times make mistakes.

edit

I just get a bit frustrated when posts (not pointed at anyone in particular) on un-sponsored forums 'big up' various tuners and don't tell the full story.  We all like VFM, and good service, we work hard enough to get our 'pride and joy', so would like to know the full story.

End of my posting on the subject.

Seperate the aftermarket from the race car stuff and return phone calls and e-mails and I'd go nowhere else.

I feel this would also help to eradicate some of the silly 'mistakes' and also make them shedfulls of cash!  :happy2:
