Boot pop kit

I see all the parts, but I don't get why the coding? Can someone explain why? thanks

6Y0 827 550 C  –  GAS STRUT (Gas struts, strong ones to give lift on boot pop)
1J6 827 439 A – BALL PIN (To replace the old ball pin (that the strut clips on to)
1K8 827 761 C – BUFFER

I think the coding holds the lock open to allow the boot to lift.

The ball pins are from any mk4 Golf or mk2 Leon.

I have already ordered the one's in my link, but at least they are the same thing, I'll try to find a washer the right size.   Bits should all arrive by Friday or Saturday so I can't wait Lol..

The retro boot kit works a lot better in the summer months and hardly ever in the colder ones.......but I may need to get some fresh boot dampers saying that.
