Heard Nankang AR-1's are pretty sweet. NS2Rs can also work if you're on a budget.

This the the website I was using, they also have a good youtube channel with reviews.

Based on what I read there I went for hankook ventus s1 evo3, as it seems to have the best short term cost / performance where I'm buying. The downside is the longterm wear isn't great.

I think you will be happy with the one in "09Pirelli."
I use Pirelli PZ4...I've seen a number of test results where it outperforms (overall) tires like Michelin PS4S and Hankook Ventus S1 EVO3.

Here the PZ4 cost $178usd/ea for a 225/40-18. When, in the same size: Hankook Ventus S1 EVO3 is $249, and Michelin PS4S is $222.

Not saying, myself, they are better...as I haven't tested them all. Just saying what I found in looking at test results, and to say I am happy with them. They also do well on wet surfaces, and I live in the wet zone in the Pacific NW (NW Oregon).

Unless going semi slick I think you'll struggle with any tyre, my PS5 were great at stage 1 but at 2+ they spin up for fun.

Would probably agree with the above! Ns2r's are a good road based semi slick so they work well from cold but work best after a little bit of driving or 1 lap or so of a circuit.

Consider playing with tyre pressures too/instead but use an accurate tyre pressure gauge not just the tyre inflator which are usually massively inaccurate. Somewhere between 30-34 cold is probably going to be the sweet spot.

Have you got an anti-lift kit fitted? Probably more important than the difference between good and great tyres.

Edit: LSD/Quaife type diff also great but significantly more expensive. For the most part I think you need to adapt your driving style with a powerful FWD car.

Yep. Tyres are for grip. 4WD, LSDs and TC are for traction.
