Dropped out the rear axle, it was pretty badly rusted, too far gone. I am  going to find a better  condition one .

Made up a couple of blanks to block off the brake lines, they came undone ok. Had to be careful dropping the axle.

Even though the car had had new arms I am going to fit all new super pro bushes.

Got the axle all stripped down.
Badly rusted, don’t think it would have done many more mot’s

Picking a replacement up this week, which will need stripping for powder coating.

You are welcome to have it as a memento

Found a replacement subframe from a jap import mk6 hardly any corrosion and a bonus of having the xenon levelling bracket and sensor. For another job further down the line.
Subframe is stripped ready for powder coating. Can’t believe how poor they were protected from the factory.

Looking good mate! I must admit my subframe looked worse than that and I powdercoated it 😂 hopefully it will last haha!

Nice job on finding a good one though, looking forward to the progress!

It was a lot worse than my mk1 rear beam. The rust has eaten really deep in places.

This will save time and money at the powder coaters as it won’t take as long to clean up,and will look better.

Plus I got the xenon  levelling bracket and  sensor .

Dropping it all off tomorrow, then onto the underside this weekend if it cools down.

How are you getting on ?
