Mk5 loud bang
« on: July 31, 2025, 10:40:04 pm »
Hello and thanks in advance.  07 1.9tdi golf Mk5.  Was a accelerating my golf tonight and there was a loud bang almost like a backfire.   Didn't think it was me at start as didn't lose any speed.   Slowed down to check and then when I went to take off it went ok and then the revs dropped suddenly and power went.  Got home ok.  When in neutral, revs seems to be fine but when I went to drive again the same issues happened.   Any ideas?   Just not sure if anything too major whether to repair.  Thanks again

Check hoses, connections and so on. Diesels can run on ambient pressure if needed but if they are designed to be boosted, they make no power without pressure. Maybe you are lucky and you've only split a hose or blown a connection somewhere.
