Suspension refresh
« on: Today at 12:14:33 am »
My Offside front strut was weeping and was told when I went for an alignment a few months back that the rear camber bolts are seized. Car handles fine but is starting to feel a little tired so rather than just address these areas I`ve decided to replace everything.

Have owned my GTI for 8 years, 2007, DSG with 67k on the clock.

I went with Sachs, Lemforder and Febi but have included the VW part numbers where I had them available.

*** I bought everything from Autodoc. Their pricing varies wildly depending on the day of the week so don't get caught out when they advertise a sale. I found their prices in general to be cheapest on Mondays ***

Upper Spring Seat: 1K0512149B x2
Lower Spring Seat: 1K0512297D x2

I did not replace the Rear Lower Control arm outer bushes as they looked fine. Will replace if I do the hubs in the future.

Just need to decide now if I tackle this job myself or pass it over to the experts.

Nice work.
Are Sachs and Lemforder original equipment.
Because I couldn't decide what brand top mounts to buy, I ended up getting mine from TPS they were quite expensive, if I remember they were about £120 for the pair.

Sachs and Monroe should be OE. Audi A4 B7 S-line comes with Monroe and GTIs should come with Sachs but I'm not 100% sure. Either way, you can't go wrong with either. KYB on the other hand are stiff af in my experience. I run them on stock springs on my other Jetta and they are stiffer than this car with Bilstein B4 Sport and Eibach Sportline...

Lemforder are a solid choice for everything else. I run them for anything drivetrain/suspension related and have no issues.

Pretty sure Sachs are the genuine supplier to VW. Lemforder are likely to be the supplier to VW but don’t know for sure. They are the OEM supplier on my Range Rover. Excellent quality in any event.
