Help with misfire!
« on: Yesterday at 08:37:10 am »
Hello all, 08 BWA engine developed a misfire BUT only at low rpms under WOT. Does it alot more when the engines cold, for example if im in say 4th at 1500 rpm i’ll get multiple misfires wot until around 3.5k then it’ll stop completely and pull happily to redline. Does not do it from a standstill foot to the floor 1st through all the gears. Literally only at very low rpm in a high gear full throttle.

No codes, or eml whatsoever.

I have vcds, detected 1 or 2 misfires in cylinder 1 and loads in cylinder 3, did the usual swap coils (still the original coils bare in mind) no change.

Injectors where swapped last year for recons (genuine) symptoms for that was basically engine wouldn’t rev or make any boost, totally different from what I’m experiencing now.

Vacuum seems to be good, pcv’s working. What else can i look at? Carbon build up seems to be mentioned alot. However when i did the injectors the build up didn’t seem to be that bad.

Any help to what direction to go is appreciated!

Probably worth taking the plugs out and inspecting them. Not doubt cylinder 3 plug will standout from the others if thats where the issue lies.

After that a compression test and/or a camera into the bore would be a good place to start so you can determine if mechanically all is well.

Plugs have been out, they look fine. Swapped those around too. Compression test i’ll do tomorrow although i doubt its low on compression simply because of the way its running, theres definitely no power loss and no smoke.
