Boot lid not openimg.
« on: June 09, 2026, 01:08:39 am »
I’ve been on this problem for months now. Not everyday but from time to time when I have time. Fixed the wires in the rubber as they were spliced from opening and closing. Changed microswitch for button on lid(VW badge) and changed latch for locking. Still says safe mode on prelatch and won’t open my boot lid. I’m getting voltage on all pins for latch but on pin4 only getting voltage when latch is closed. I attached photos to see example of error and problem. If anyone have an idea what could it be.

I still bet money on the wires on that rubber sleeve.  I had a couple of breaks on mine (one was very hard to get to) but also some of the wires had broken sleeves meaning they are exposed in places and can short on others ........matches what you are getting.

To be honest I think I did good job on repair in rubber sleeve. Connected all the wires by the wiring diagram, checked after each connection. Continuity test and measured voltage between connector in C pillar and each pin on connector to latch, release button, etc. Shows voltage when boot latch is closed on pin 4 of boot latch, other pin 1 and 2 shows voltage the whole time.

I included photo of measuring brown connector pin 4 in C pillar on left side, closed and opened boot latch.
