If it had a reworked 3.2 V6 with a turbo on it then it would be well worth the money!

if that was the case i would have been at the front of the queue  :innocent:

Or at the very least the TTRS lump...thats where my money would be going, I know you lose the practibility of the Golf but its not required for me.

....If happy with only 2 seats the TT-RS is a good 'un and the engine already reputed to be a winner. But, they do cost at least £50k.

bottom line is the golf R should have the 2.5 engine in it to make it worth that sort of money , but vw want to get rid of the old engines so the 2.5 can go in the fast mk 7

theres not much to discuss about the golf R anyhow.

Redressed audi s3, with a higher price tag, and soon to be replaced by the mk7 golf.
or are we looking at a Mk5.75
Nothing new to see here, only talking point is its absurd price.

The new Leon Cupra R threads all ended up the same way these golf R threads, as we arent getting anything new, yet VAG want to charge a ridicoulos price for it.

i reckon these cars are a purely a result of ford and renault releasing new hot models, and VAg thought they were missing out on the action.

so when i s this Mk7 chassis due out then??
mk7 chassis can be seen testing out on the ring already. W

I just alugh when I see one - More money than sense.  There is so much more out there, not necessarily new to buy for that money!

....And I just laugh when I hear people say what other car, used or not, that they can get for their money. If you love it and you've got the money available, just buy it and enjoy it. Who cares what anyone else thinks about your ride. [/End of]

Back on topic, I'm waiting for my VW dealer to get one I can test drive for a few hours on my own.

I cancelled my order if you remember, so I think I am more than qualified to voice my opinion, and no I do not care what other people think of my car, but in MY opinion, near on £40k is just too much for a hot hatch with a 2.0T, unless, like others have stated, it had the TTRS engine in it, or some similar lump.

Just my tuppence as usual, but many are saying people with my opinion are being repetitive, I feel for good reason.

I have no wanting to drive it, as I will never want to own one, as I feel I can get better value for money elsewhere in the car market, and one that will tick more boxes for my situation, for a similar investment.

Please continue the debate. :happy2: ( And I know we are on a golf forum, but come on, there is life beyond a Golf....... :P)

so really for the majority of Golf enthusiasts its not 'special' enough - which I would agree with and maybe thats the 'thing' which bugs me about it given the price tag.

I know I know it all comes down to price but thats life.

^^^^
I can't see myself ever wanting a performance car outside the VAG stable of Porsche, VW, and Audi. Otherwise a Land-Rover, highly modified of course.

But it's only personal preferences and nothing to argue about.

Dont let that be you RR.

I couldnt care less about the badge on the bonnet, I will just buy whatever suits my circumstances best at the time.

....That's exactly why I bought a Golf instead of another BMW - A far better (for my needs) allrounder - Simples.

I'm just more settled and mature than some people and I know what I like and what suits my lifestyle.  :happy2:
