Wheels and Tyre Size Info Needed.
« on: September 21, 2010, 08:14:26 pm »
Hey troops, not sure if this is in the correct section but I am sure it will be moved if its not.

anyway lets cut to the chase.  I am thinkin about gettin a set of 19" wheels, the wheels in question have an offset of 48, so ideal for the GTi as from what I am lead to believe anythin between 45 and 51 is what you want.

The car is lowered just on springs so dont have the luxery of raisin it if need be, I was just wondering what size of tyre would be the best to go for, obviously dont want any rubbing.

would 225 35 19 be ok or would more of a stretch, be needed to avoid rubbin say 215

also would 35 profile be needed, obviosuly the bigger wheels and less rubber is going to compramise the comfort, would I get away with 40s

Hope some one can guide me on the right path.

thanks in advance.

I have 19s 8.5 width. Did have 235 35 19 on but they scrubbed when lowered. Have now switched to 225 35 19, no rubbing with these. I'm on Koni coilovers too, not sure how low tbh. But definitely as low as I can go with 19s.  :happy2:

235 is the correct size for 8.5j but you can get away with 225.  :happy2:

As far as your bolts go you need to check the bolt type, most aftermarket wheels require new bolts. There are 2 types of collars on bolts. One has a rounded finish, and one has a straight 45degree edge. You need to check that the bolt seat on the wheels are the same as your Monza's if they are the same, then all you have to do is make sure the bolts are long enough. I am guessing that the will be slightly short.  :happy2:
