Purchased some Caddy rear brake calipers to replace mine, as the paint on mine is totally shot and these offer a small upgrade in piston size. Ill give them a lick of red hammerite or something.

Think that's what I'll replace mine with if mine ever go go dodgy! Would go s3 310mm but people want silly money for them now

yeah.. and not to mention they are not really needed and the consumables are more expensive.

I paid £150 for my calipers, £50 for new pads, £80 for new discs.
Look so much better than the 28x mm rears.

Larger piston size without increasing the unsprung weight at the rear wheels is a better option on a FWD car really, running a 6R with a Haldex controller in Race mode (full 50/50 power split front to rear) makes the most of the 310mm brakes.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Old GTI 37mm

New Caddy 40mm

Test fit

Just got to work out if the dust shields need cutting or removing and about the handbrake cable bracket. Any one fitted these before?

Get rid of the dust shields if you get an excuse. They should be called grit collectors.

Cheers.

yeah i think im gonna leave them on just take some mole grips to them and bend them a bit. taking them off is a ball ache as it means Id have to remover the carriers too.

Started to paint the calipers. Hammerite is a bit sh*t, not as good as foliatec. I think its gonna take a good few coats to get them right.
