That is for the coupe... Turbo and Coupe are very different things...

Here is the Turbo in 996 guise:

http://porsche.jbcarpages.com/911/2003/index4.php

And like with Hurdy some people can get a quicker 0-100 time. The driver that managed the 3.4 (He did it more than once) was the head of servicing at Porsche Centre. He has worked with Porche since he left school and he sure as hell knows how to drive a Porsche...

Perhaps there is a difference?

Check your source... I have a 911 Turbo Pamphlet here that quotes the exact same thing as this. The Coupe which is without a turbo is as you posted above.

http://www.leftlanenews.com/porsche-911-turbo-coupe.html

http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche/1998-2005-porsche-turbo-996-ar1254.html

Now for the coupe. The coupe you refer to is the C4. It is non turbo'ed.

http://www.supercars.net/garages/marcusmv3/57v2.html

http://porsche.jbcarpages.com/911/2000/index3.php

The newer C4 was faster and introduced in 2003:

Starting to make sense? Coupe- Turbo not the same thing

That pamphlet is messed up then....

Cos it state the wrong figures... Give Porsche a call. Maybe its a misprint :happy2:

My pamhlet that looks different to yours says 3.9.

Could well be a misprint then...

All figures I quote are for the facelifted vehicles, and from official Porsche publications - not the cr@p that appears all over the internet.

I have the Carrera in 4.9, the C4S in 5.1 (both Coupe)

Therefore the Turbo in 4.2 makes sense considering its modifications over a normal Carrera.

At the end of the day, this thread was for your efforts on your detailing so lets just stick to that. As I said before, your detail looks very impressive  :happy2:

Not a prob mate. Dads shot through to Porsche now to get the electronics reset so he will find out there what the deal is. Thanks for the kind words though.

Perhaps it feels faster? But on paper they are the same car?? Maybe the 997 is lighter or something. I dont really care. All I know is the 996, 997 and GT will beat most things on the road. Its quite cool knowing that  8)

In a straight line there is nothing in it from a roll, but from a standing start the Porsche would destroy the Golf lol..

Around a track im really not sure, I think it would be pretty close to be honest! Most of which would be down to the tyres on my car..

I know its not really a great comparison, but a standard GTI beats a new WRX around a track, I think that says alot for the Golfs handling abilities, out of the box.

but the old wrx beats a new one round the track, i think subaru have taken a large step backwrds, not only in performance, but looks aswell.

would be so good to see this, doubt my dad would loan you his car though, and you obv destroy my dad around a track in your ed30, (considering your career  :driver: :rolleye:)

997 turbo is up around 50bhp on the 996 turbo but if they book the same performance figures maybe the 996 is lighter?
I love all the porsche turbos, if i had that sort of money to spend on a car i would buy an f430 8)
Joe your dad had a 430 before the turbo didnt he?
