a question of width . . .
« on: November 03, 2008, 08:40:27 pm »
Noooooo, its not what I keep telling the laydeeess when they look!  :ashamed:

Any chance of getting the forum to display the full width?  On my 21" monitor at 1600*1200, there is about four inches of dead space each side.  The GTIforum is set to full width.

I was just thinking the same on my way home today (i know it's sad), but during some pre-release testing we found some issues with this theme and certain cat's with smaller monitors so have the width currently fixed.

I will look at this again as I have some more ideas on a solution. :happy2:

WE had a few conversations about what is best and tried a few different widths Steve was really patient i would prefer it a bit wider but thought it was better with black round the edges distinguishing us from other sites that we know about.
My laptop at home had no probs with the wider one but at work it was giving scroll bars not a good effect.

Well, can you not make it a selectable option in the users control panel?  I know that can be done with vBuletin, but have never worked with SMF.

the ideal is to have it user selectable but personally I love the friendly warm atmosphere which the rich black and red colours have created.

The larger text size here makes up for having a narrow width.

Our Biali Motorsport site uses the same SMF version 1.1.6 but it doesn't appear to be user selectable. Our young web monkey Dave is a pro so I'd have to ask him if you guys don't know.

Yes we started like this loved it tried wider with other versions but came back to this I personally chose it like this and Steve god bless him obliged so blame me, I think it works really well myself the only downside being piccies are smaller.
I wouldn't mind it being a bit wider but not much, at the end of the day StevePG is the boss man so he has final say.  :fighting2:

Oooops!! What's happened? The black sides have suddenly become just one right hand side - NOT GOOD!!

The side really does look like a waste of space like that. Also the readable body is kicked over and not central on my huge Apple Cinema Display.
