Missfire is back!
Saint Steve:
Oh dear....... Custom code....
can't they re install your stock map so you can check the basics are working fine 1st before going any further.
jimmy-s3:
The remap was installed somewhere down south and the local custom code dealer said it has to go back to where it was installed!
What a load of BOLL&&ks!
Could it be a faulty MAF sensor??
Ive drove the car with the MAF sensor disconnected and it seems to drive slightly better??

Contact custom code, you will probably have to pay for the time (hopefully under £40 and hour) but I'm sure any custom code dealer will be able to help you

Had a vagcom check on my gti and it came up with cylinder number 1 missfire, so ive replaced the ignition coil and its still the same. Ive checked the rest of them and they all look fine, even the one i replaced looks fine to me!
Ive also had the plugs and fuel filter replaced about 1000 miles ago.
Any ideas?

Hey, that sounds exactly like what was happening to mine. It was Cylinder 1 also! Mine was the injector.
If you have already replaced the coil pack and the plugs and fuel filter are new I reckon its the injector :(
Just make sure you dont go to a rip off dealer like I did!
jimmy-s3:
ENNVEE, that sounds promising!
Im going to attempt to remove the injectors at the weekend and either get them cleaned proffesionly or replace them(ive been offered a used set).
The guy at Teesside auto tech said to me 99% of the time the injector is as good as new when cleaned by them. They put them in an ultrasound bath to break down the carbon build up then fit new filters and seals to them for £12 each.
