Viewing the site on a mobile phone

More of a question than a suggestion...

Before reformatting my Blackberry I recall that I was able to view the site in some form of basic mode, which didn't allow posting, but was very fast to view! Any idea how I managed this?

On my old SMF Forum before we upgraded to vB we used to use this theme

So anyone on an iDevice it auto changed for you maybe worth looking into?
