Worth fitting K57i intake with stage 1 TSI?

You couldnt be more wrong about the std airbox on the TFSI. very very restrictive with most guys gaining at least 10hp when running stock map with guys who are mapped making 15-20hp gains. If anything the K03 requires the intake more than the K04 because it struggles more

10bhp to me is not a great gain and nothing you would notice on the road. Perhaps half a second if that! I know its not the best designed air box but its not that bad and the ED30s seem to produce good bhp and torque with a simple remap. I know to get max power the CAI is a must but I tune my car as a fast road car and not a track day car, as I do not use WOT all the time. With the CAI I had to use more revs to get the car to go as the low end torque was gone. It revved more eagerly at the top end but I dont use that end much, only to pass other vehicles but there is plenty of low/mid range grunt still. The CAI didnt suit my day to day driving requirements.

The K04 has a much stronger turbo so it can overcome the restriction much easier than the K03 turbo. but the intake is not just a peak Hp gain.
this is RRs stock Vs twintake on his revo car thats a 10-15hp gain from 3500rm onwards so exactly where you say you want the power. Its also arund 20lbft stronger from 3500-redline. Your right that the torque builds up later but only below 2500rpm, which will help with traction anyway

I know CAI are much better by design but I didnt find it worked for my driving style. I tend to use the torque and monitored my driving yesterday. I drive around 1500rpm to 3000rpm and only venture higher into the rev range to overtake, so a CAI for me is pointless as I would not use the extra bit of power given by them. Plus I dont really like the noise they make with these engines. Nothing like the noise my FRS made, that sounded like a banshee when on WOT :evilgrin: but I think thats down to the small VVT turbos these car use why they sound differrent. Ive heard the ITG maxogen on these engines and it came no where near to the noise produced by my FRS. Fond memories! :drool:
