no, even if youve got the correct wire and module youve still got to remove the airbag, module, angle sensor and slip ring before u can swap the stalk.
it sounds scary but its really easy  :happy2:

ps, u can skip the steps of stripping the module, u just need the remove the whole module case (without stripping if u know what i mean)

Great write up.  Gives me a lot more confidence to do this myself now.

I have an 06 GTI with MFSW/Highline.  Is there a good chance i'll already have the correct steering module but will still need the ECU wire?

im stuck, fitted the stalk, done the long coding on engine. went to activate on steering wheel, put in the coding 0000032, i get error. Pics below. Any ideas?
