GTI or Edt 30???
« on: October 07, 2011, 04:01:13 pm »
Im sure this has been asked before but....

If you had to do it all over again what would you start with as a base car with the intention of tuning it to 300+ ?

The only thing holding me back on getting an edt 30 is the seats. In saying that I do like the Pirelli edt seats :)
no accounting for taste I know. :D

Also can you fit a highline dash screen if not installed by the factory?
Am I right to say the Mk 6 MFW wont work unless you have the highline screen??

if you want to modify go ed30/pirelli, if you want to keep the car standard and move on in a year or so may as well get a gti as you will have fun but wont pay as much
Diamond Black Pearl Edition 30, still going strong but now back to Stg 1

You are letting the seats influence which one you go for :signLOL:

IMO the ED30 seats are the best out of the 3 :happy2:

if your going to modify heavily and you buy a manual - get the clutch and lsd fitted and all suspension, brakes before you go big power. i went stg 2+ first - my clutch lasted less than a week  :rolleye:

I understand where you are coming from but they would be pretty easy to change if you find a great car with the 'wrong' interior. If your going for 300+ then you could just add it to your mod list  :happy2:

you could always swap an Ed30 interior with someone and get a retrim... i think the Ed30 is the way to go, bearing in mind that when i drove it i thought it was a bit wallowy and not a great handler compared to the standard GTI or the A3 2.0T i ended up getting but as you should be getting lowering springs (at the very least) this shouldn't be that much of a problem.

What clutch did you upgrade to? does it feel standard or heavy? how much was it fitted?
i have an ED30 and will be getting a remap, the standard clutch is very high so that might be the 1st thing to change :(

I guess if the right ed30 came along I would get it and then find a leather interior somewhere or get a re-trim. But Id rather spend my cash on the engine/suspension/brakes etc..
