ooo very nice RR
as ever taking the time to add headings and pics makes the writeup top notch  :happy2:  :drinking:

I can def see why they suit the DRL's you have fitted. I personally really like them.

For me they are a template as to how that area could look in terms of removing the foglights and creating horizontal accents (be that vents or audi style DRL's dunno). Add in a central piece (below the no plate also with horizontal accents) and the front could look vastly different (but removable)......
airflow etc considerations taken into account as well I guess.

Keep it up  :happy2:

Yes, once upon a time I investigated doing Audi-style DRL's and Hella Germany even sent me some that would fit if I changed the fog panels to the horizontal bar type but I don't like the mix of those with the central honeycombe grills, and have pics of them mixed on cars in the US of A.

There are other options but they would involve even more custom work and expense.

You are right - The DRL's are principally what have driven this mod.

....I don't need much encouragement for my pic whoring!

It'll be interesting to see what you think when you see them for real - Probably at Inters - I'll be on the BIALI Motorsport stand.

[goes off to find/take more pics]

As you know Robin, I love all things Carbon Fibre and OSIR products are no exception. I've debated these for a while, but I decided against them as they overlap quite a bit of the central design of the car. Otherwise I'd have had them like a shot. Still look gorgeous though :happy2:

....I know exactly what you mean about these OSIR panels extending further than stock towards the central design element, and that very consideration is what stopped me for a while. But now I don't feel that the overall look is radically changed because you still read two black 'vent' areas - In fact slightly bigger and hence more aggressive ones [bigger boobies].

Having said that, I don't think that these would suit your silver GTI because you have that very subtle silver CF and it would look odd (imo) mixed with black CF. Colour coding silver or having them silver CF would radically alter the front look of the GTI as this red example shows : -

Although when making side by side direct comparisons between my modded GTI and a completely stock GTI, there are many differences, I have always tried my hardest not to destroy its original design integrity with my body mods.

....

A few more pics. I find that various pics convey quite differing looks to these OSIR panels.

Robin,

You've hit the nail on the head. :happy2:

On my car they would look odd - even in silver.

On your car they look totally droolworthy. I am a big fan of your car and it is absolutely, one of the most beautifully put together GTI's I've seen. The recent mods only enhance this further...........now sell me those Recaro's
