Please help - About remapping

Hey folks,


As some of you know, i had my Golf GT TSi 170ps remapped to 198bhp  ( according to them ) by Custom Tuning in Bradford  for £225 inc VAT  http://www.customtuning.co.uk/


I can feel the some difference but not enough to hugely satisfy me. Before i had it done, i asked them a few quests. if it was safe and could it be spotted by the dealers, their reply was this ;-

The tuning we do is very very unlikely to be detected by the dealers but if you
need to take your car back to the dealers for any warrenty work and was paranoid
about them finding out then if you come to us at bradford we would remove the tuned
file for you and then when you had been to the dealers come back to bradford and we will
put your tuned file back in, we would not charge you for this service.
Our tuned file will not damage your engine, we tune all our own files and keep it safe, we don't
send your original file off in an email for somebody else to tune, your engine will be running
on it's own file if you drive it flat out, we make all the major changes in your ECU between
2000 and 4500 revs and then it slowly goes back to your original tuned information as it reaches
full revs, we make no changes at all upto 1300 revs and after 5000 revs.
We can come to your house in wakefield and do it for a total of £225.

How is the 198bhp achieved if they dont remap over 5000 revs ?



I'm thinking of churning out £460 to have a REVO remap which takes it to 205bhp and so i read, they tune all the rev range. Is this correct ?


I really need some advice and help, what are your thoughts on this ?

personally i would rather be mapped on a rolling road so 'real time' mapping is achieved, but that's just me

The bit about the rev ranges sounds a bit odd but it all depends at what level peak power is produced for your engine I suppose, I would expect it to be higher than 5K rpm.

IMHO a remapping isn't something to be chosen on price alone  :smiley:

Where can i take my car to then to get it remapped on a rollin road AND that does a REVO stage remap ?


Im a total noob on this so go easy  :happy2:

The thing with REVO and other good tuners is that they have spent a huge amount of time and research on producing their maps.

They are generic maps but can be tweaked to suit individual cars and also additional mods.

A good REVO dealer will do you before and after runs if they have a dyno. If not they should at least log the car on the road to make sure all is OK.
