Front wing rust warranty success!!

Unfortunately I have found some rust and bubbling, but not where you guys seem to have commonly got it... Which concerns me as they might not cover it under the 'goodwill'

It's on the edge of the rear left hand panel where it meets the bumper, just below where the lights are.

Is it worth me going to VW about it?

VW WINGS RUST PDF

What the PDF explains is the reasons why the rust in the front wings has occurred - A design manufacturing fault which Volkswagen admit to internally by the existence of this PDF dicument!

Although, the foam pads were to reduce noise from Mk5 Golf DIESEL engines, they were also applied to other Mk5 Golfs in the range - Hence our problem.

it only applies to the front wings.

It's important to emphasise that this is NOT a standard VW warranty issue.

Also, a precedant has been set by all the dozens of Mk5 Golfs which have already been repaired free of charge regarding this exact issue.

However, if your wings paint thickness when measured has changed (due to aftermarket respray), VW can legitimately escape from their obligations.

I've noticed that mine has bubbles under the paint but nothing showing through as yet! Prime evidence of it coming from within.

here is mine above the rear arch... Obviously its not covered in the pdf so might cause a problem negotiating with VW.... but this is no way from a stone chip. A decent bodywork repair place has quoted me £170 to respray half this panel and sort this out.

Hi there...newbie!

I'm also having problems with VW regarding a warranty claim for my wing and sill. Usual sketch, they have offered to pay 50% but i'm holding out for the full amount. I will keep you posted on my success as if they they dont come back with a better offer this week then i'm off to the small claims court.
