Why didn't they make a D but with a rubber sealing face...

Very interested in the forge if it's the best solution...

I bought a Forge DV from the very first batch available, probably about 6 years ago. I've never had any problems with it but they do need checking occasionally.

At the time, the VW OEM DV's were failing randomly but commonly on remapped Mk5 GTI's - A ripped diaphragm under the added pressure. So I bought my Forge DV as preventative maintenance.

How come you swapped back Robin?

Do they require the maintenance on the ed30 as it's not directly on the turbo...?

maintenance is just greasing the piston inside the forge.. maybe replacing a rubber ring if required... forge usually send these bits for free if your lucky.

....JKM installed my Forge DV ~6 years ago. At that time their opinion was definitely that the OEM DV needed replacing on a remapped 2.0T FSI and that VW's revisions were still not up to the job until more recently. As I already have the Forge DV with no issues it would be pointless me changing to a OEM Rev 'G' and I'm confident that's what JKM would advise me for my car. Generally I don't know what JKM would currently advise now that VW have at last revised their DV to something apparently more satisfactory - Best to ask them and report here what they say.

As part of JKM's Tuning packages they replace the DV with a Rev D according to their site

Quote from: JKM
a new generation OEM Turbo Diverter Valve that does not contain the troublesome diaphram seal that is prone to splitting on earlier valve types.

I too reckon that will definitely be for cost reasons. The Forge DV will cost more than the Rev D or G, though I haven't checked what the actual costs currently are. At least, if JKM are using the Rev D in their offered package we can confidently assume that they think it's up to the job. JKM are fiercely independent and like to stand by their products and that's also why they don't recommend the Autotech HPFP internals over the APR pump.

On the D vs G subject, if I understand correctly, R-Tech recommend the G as better than the D but JKM offer the D (unless their web site needs updating).

Cheapest place for the Forge DV anyone??

I have the Revision D on my ED30 with the Revision G (as new) in the garage with no discernible diffence in either having swapped them over about 2 months ago. From reading a few reviews, apart from a small amount of maintenance, I think the Forge Valve is the way to go. Not the cheapest option though!

Found this, seems about the right price.

Looks like a good price to me.

I paid £150 from FR&R Tuning in November (offer) but they want a few pennies short of £200 now!
When I was looking there didn't seem to be much of a price difference between suppliers.

The forge is a different sound, and more of a squeak.. i quite like the air dump from the VAG ones..
