Pretty much as above, I used Gunk on mine then various grades of wire wool with autosol then finished them off again with autosol and a cloth.

Yeah ill second the wire wool and autosol method, I got really good results from this :) just takes time and elbow grease.. Not completely finished but here's a before and after of mine :)

That's an impressive improvement, time to roll up the sleeves me thinks.

And seal & polish them once you've got them clean

I put on werkstat prime strong & a couple of coats of FinishKare 1000P Hi-Temp Sealant

Did mine with some Wire wool and AG Metal polish last night. Better, still not 100%. More time needed on them I feel.
