Advice on "Must do" mods?
« on: September 17, 2013, 04:55:55 pm »
Afternoon everyone. I've just bought myself a Golf GTI mk5 2008 in Candy White. I'm just wondering if there are any cheap or must do mods you guys can recommend I carry out?

What sort of power gains can I expect? Would it effect the MPG good or bad?

Decent stage 1 map from the likes of Revo / rTech etc. should see 240bhp+ and 280lb/ft+ on GTI (K03), if your Edition 30/Pirelli/K04 then 280bhp+ and similar torque.

Decent set of tyres, as above, make a huge difference... Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2's are excellent for daily/fast road use.

Re: MPG, the more power you have the more fuel you will use... that said, driven normally they are no less efficient, perhaps a little more in some respects... but it will drop fast if your enjoying the new found torque these engines produce. :happy2:

Start with a map and for your cheap mod, a mk5golfgti.co.uk sticker.

How about small mods? I've realised that my radio signal is pants? And my welcome lights on the wing mirror are an ugly orange! Any tried and tested methods that can sort this?

Maybe the remap eats through so many tyres that it's better off to just walk then drive?

Lol
