Golf R-Leeds VW
« on: March 23, 2014, 08:10:20 pm »
Went to Leeds VW today to view their R. What a dog! For £21495 on a 10 plate I expected a lot more in all honesty. Body work is full of swirl marks. There's G3 buffing paste in the cracks of the panels. The interior is filthy and full of white residue. I was really disappointed. Been softening the mrs up for weeks. Finally get her 'moist' on one n it wasn't even anything better than my old girl.

And to top it the salesman couldn't have been any less interested in us. When I'm spending 20k plus I want my buying experience to be better than the average.

I have seen a company called SSC in Huddersfield. They have 4. Has anybody had any dealing with them?

Nothing worse mate, I hate dealers like that.

I bought my cupra from a merc garage and their service was spot on, even though I wasn't buying a £100,000 Mercedes from them!!

Contacted Arnold Clark about another car beforehand and the bloke was a total c**t. 2 of the alloys needed to be refurbed and he was refusing to get it sorted. I was going to be buying a 12k car, for them to refurb 2 wheels and seal the deal would have cost 80 quid or so!!!

He was just arrogant and not interested at all, piss poor service. Just wanted to headbutt him lol, shame he was down the other end of the phone     :fighting: :fighting:

Anyone driven one yet? Dying to av a drive. They worth the premium? I'm in limbo whether to go down the usual GTI route or pay the extra and go for the R.

I went from a modified Pirelli to a MK6 R and it's awesome, such a different beast and definitely worth holding out for the right car....you won't be disappointed! :happy2:

I wonder how you know it's G3 compound lol...

Just cheap valeters for you.. nothing a good detailer couldn't get ;)
Every car apart from the 5% owned by people who actually understand paint correction / paint care will be full of swirls ... would be quite low down my priority list to be honest.. scratches etc a big no no but swirls can be removed easily.

Good luck with your continued search tbh i'd just buy private.

 spent some time in a body shop when I left school so I still have a few bits of knowledge. Nothing to sinister  :signLOL:

Call me a pedantic fecker but I expect more from a main dealer and such a special motor. Private seems the way forward as you say. Need to drive one I they're that good.
