Jeffchiz:
My mate was breaking a black r32, so i had the rear bumper and back box off it, it also had a perfect 3D boot handle so he chucked that in for free to replace my white wormy one.

Long story short im not fitting the oem r32 back box, im having the same guys that made my back box delete make me a new one but with r32 tail pipes on Thursday, ive chosen 3" inward rolled tips but might change to bigger ones on the day

Jeffchiz:
Thought I'd do some niggly jobs before the car goes in for the exhaust tomorrow.

As i mentioned I picked up a new 3D boot badge/handle

Old-

New-

As you may know you have to remove the rear wiper assembly to get the badge out, you may remember I was thinking about de-wipering it a while back. I used moderate force to get the wiper off, didn't budge so I got the hacksaw out and cut it off, so that made my decision for me! While i was at it i decided to whip the GTI badge off as well, was corroding around the edges so off it came. Also replaced the boot trim (got it from the R32 as mine was cracking)

Finally gave the car a clean and and polished the boot where the badge was and put some auto glym bumper care on the lower plastic ready to be clipped on tomorrow :D Will have to get a grommet for the rear window tomorrow and hope it doesn't rain tonight!

Jeffchiz:
Just realised I never posted pics of the finished r32 rear!  These pics were from last week just after i got home. Very happy with the outcome, i ended up going for 3.5" outward rolled, opposed to the 3" inward rolled.

Shoduchi:
Looks great! :happy2:

Good choice on the diameter but I prefer the inward rolled tips.

Jeffchiz:
This weekend saw my sachs clutch being fitted :)

My Motul RBF 600 fluid turned up last wednesday

I lined the pressure plate up with the LUK flywheel to make sure i got sent the right clutch for my flywheel, it fitted perfectly.

I drove up to my mates unit, 170 miles away, on Friday, We cracked on with it early on saturday morning, go it parked up and jacked up.

Unfortunately when we removed the passenger drive shaft we noticed the end cap had been damaged previously leaking cv grease, we rang up TPS and they said the cap can be bought separately for about £3 Brilliant! Except they didn't have any in stock until Tuesday, unfortunately, being 170 miles away from home this wasn't an option as I had to be at work this morning! So this will have to be changed at a later date, thankfully the way the drive shaft bolts to the flange its not like CV grease will be splattered anywhere.

Got the box off after a lot of trying, never had a box be so stubborn coming off!

Old worn clutch

We cleaned the box up, oil had been dripping on it for a long time, the leak has been fixed a while a go, now ive finally got a clean box!

Flywheel being torqued up

New clutch plate

New pressure plate

Box back on, took less time than taking it off!

And this was where we left it for the night

Early Sunday morning we rebuilt rest of the car, bled the clutch with some standard fluid just so we could take it for a test drive and all is well! Clutch is definitely heavier and more of an on/off feel, it feels good :)

The next task was to change the brake fluid, mainly for going to the Nurburgring later this month, but when we checked the old fluid needed to be binned anyway

Last job just putting some screen wash in and thats the end to my very busy weekend

Then on the long journey home i went past this beaut!
