Tail light condensation

After a bit of rain last night I have noticed my o/s outter rear tail light has condensation inside.

Is it just a replacement seal that's required or is this a sign to get a set of ED30/R32 rear lights ordered   :wink:

I think this is a fairly common thing, doesn't necessarily mean anythings wrong. Unless it is really bad!

Hey, dont think its anything major. When i had my car detailed by my mate, he just removed the trim behind the light clusters and let them air out. Alternatively you can take them out and put a hairdrier to dry the air out in there then put the trim back on. Dont think you'd need to go to the extent of ordering a new set of lights though mate.

Could try some product to soften the seals a bit to make them connect better. Autoglym leather treatment product works well on a range of surfaces and might help.   :happy2:

Just taken mine out looks like it's been over-sealed. Some of the clips have got broken at some point and it looks to have been bodged back together

Stick a sachet of silica gel to each cap it'll draw all the moisture out. Just replace every so often. My astra was a lot worse than my GTI is.

On my old Mk3, I drilled a small pilot hole in the base to let the water out, and never had a problem afterwards.

I did this also on my mk3, drilled two infact to let air flow through and dry up any condensation, worked a treat, dont think you can get away with that on mk5 lights though

I didn't realise this was so common. My passenger side one was getting condensation in it so I ordered another light and replaced it. Now the drivers side is doing it too LOL!!!
