It's not a "big" job as it's all bolt on providing you know what you're doing... Alex has done a few of them.
I would rather spend the money on super sticky tyres and polybushing the whole car IMO as that would give you more benefit. Only time the 4wd really helps is doing hard wet acceleration from low speeds or when you start really chucking the car about (sliding it and so forth) which you aren't going to do on the road.

As Jay said, a diff is the better way to go, as the 4wd Haldex system will add over 100kg in weight! Plus, you can easily sell a gearbox with a LSD to swap to 4wd if you do change your mind, but selling a 4wd GTI may be more difficult!

cheers for the input m8 :happy2:

So next on your list !
Fully polybush
Diff
Sticky tyres
bigger turbo
then buy the golf R :rolleye:
Most parts would also fit on to the R

Ive thought about it all too matey, I just cant bring myself to sell the golf... I have enjoyed every min of tunning/modding, the experience alone has been great...
But to have to strip it all down, sell what is not needed, sell the car buy an R, and start all over again.... :rolleye: Bonkers !
4x4 was on my list of things to do, but it has been marked of the list, til i get really bored...
The diff makes a big difference, just takes awhile to get used to, or grow the gonads to put it to good use :driver: The bushes give the brand new car felling only better
How much more power is needed for FWD cars, take a look at pikeys car he is pushing near 600bhp, :jumping: crazy in my eyes, but it just goes to show what really is possible for FWD GTI's...
How far would you like to go ? :innocent:
Then how far would you push the R?
