Diesel sounding GTI FSI-T Mk5 :(

(1/18) > >>

MrACD:
Picked up the GTi today (from a Hyundai main dealer) - Paid up and drove off, once warm was sitting at the lights and it sounded like a bloody diesel in the cabin lol... I thought hold on, what's going on here, that defo was not there on the test drive...

So having read about it, it's a common problem by the sounds of it (cam chain/tensioners etc)..

Few questions -

Could the cam follower cause such a noise?  Also, when I had the test drive and put the deposit down I asked for the air con to be re-gassed, they have done that but doesn't feel very cold and the fans go like the clappers too..

I don't sound it but I am so angry and gutted, if it was the cam follower I'd do it myself, but I think it's more.

Shall I take it back to them, or you think they will ask me to go the warranty route?  After just picking it up I think they should do it.

I don't understand it wasn't happening at all on the test drive.

If I was you I would read this

Also the link in Dazza post!

Then I'd be wanting my money back or the item repaired.

These engines are not the quietest. If you really think something is not right go back ASAP just so they are aware of the problem.

Have a listen to some of these audio files http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,87599.60.html
