When accelerating it would sometimes feel like the power was being held back for a second and then return, hot or cold.

Boost would suddenly drop on my gauge and return, and felt like something stuck and then suddenly opened......hard to describe.

I could not figure it out and had worked my way round the entire engine......decided to try the newer Conti TB and it resolved all the issues. smooth power delivery and the car also felt more responsive.

100K on the VDO TB and it was an early one too.

Actually now that I think about it, this is exactly what my 1.4 TSI is doing. Under load, such as when climbing a hill or just driving spiritedly, the car sometimes just lets out a puff and drops power for a second, as if all cylinders would misfire at the same time. I've also had the car die a few times both right after starting or after coming to a stop. At one point it even gave me a fault code for the TB being faulty but I ignored it because it didn't really show any symptoms then.

In other news, I've looked into my fueling issues. The current rail pressure map is stock so it only requests 120-122 bar most of the time but 4th gear and above it requests 130 bar since it also requests 0.1 bar more boost pressure.

I think my FPRV is failing as it might be leaking fuel out of the rail. After letting the car sit for the night, when I open the door, the electric fuel pump kicks in and there's a noise coming from the engine that sounds like you're pumping water out of a syringe but it's half full of air. It also takes a couple of cranks for the engine to start in this scenario. Even if it starts after 3 cranks, it dies right after and has to crank 2 more times till it fully starts up. Tho no issues if I cycle the pump twice, starts right up 2nd crank.

I'll be replacing my fuel pump internals with the VIS motorsport 165 bar internals and I'll be fitting an Audi RS4 FPRV. I'll be doing the valve first to see if it helps with anything or if there's an actual leak somewhere in the system.

While the car drives strong, I feel like it really doesn't like the current setup with cut-back fuel pressure and stock injectors, like it's constantly yearning for more

MK6 General Area / Re: Remaps

Before any remap, make sure your car & engine are up to date with regular maintenance.
IMO, it's better to get the DSG mapped at the same time as the ECU remap. It will cost more, but most tuners will offer a discount if you do both at the same time. The remap wakes up the whole car/engine, but to get the best out of it, DSG tune should match for the best launch strategy & shift points.
On the GTi, you might want to invest in an Anti-lift kit to get the power down better.

LV sent me this before putting my insurance up £200. I will shop around before I commit.

Cost of vehicle repairs – up 32% since 2022. Reflecting rising costs, energy inflation and more expensive repairs (source: ABI).
Payouts for vehicle theft - up 35% since 2022 (source: ABI).
Labour costs for repairs – up 50% since 2019, due to inflation, shortage of skilled workers and the energy crisis (source: Auto Body Professionals).
Severe weather – Storms are getting worse and more frequent and it’s impacting motorists. Recent storms, Babet and Ciarán, saw many cars damaged by flash floods and falling trees/debris in the high winds.

Thanks! :D

Got the correct crack pressure for the apr spring set, it pulled 365hp on the same 2+ settings, 1.6bar. Was pulling 320hp on old k04 and same tune. Sweet

Fitted a TTE420 as my K04 that I reconditioned 6 months ago crapped out. It has the APR spring on it which requires 0.75bar crack pressure so I'm running full wastegate closed till I go update the tune tomorrow. Nearly crapped my pants when I saw the boost needle jump off the scale, I saw it around where 2.5 bar would've been, tops out at 2, LMAO.

Also got a MIB2 unit installed, which was a total bitch to code properly, had to get a new can gateway also for vcds be able to access it. Car play and all, too bad my Huawei doesn't support Android auto  The bluetooth is way nicer then the chinese dongle crap I had in my RNS510.

Awesome...

Replaced the very sorry looking window button and I managed to resurrect the door handle while I was at it too. Strange enough, there seemed to be 3 different finishes on top, upon scrubbing them hard on the worn areas, I realised that it would go back down to brand new? One layer of "top coat", another layer of this white-ish colour, then back down to the beige plastic. Really strange, but it took about an hour of fine grade steel wool & fine grit sandpaper to get the handle sweet. Thought it may be useful for anyone else with worn beige/cream plastic in their MK5s since these are much rarer than your standard black. You can literally take it back to the original and trust me when I say this it looks brand new. I called TPS prior and they wanted an arm and a leg for some of these interior bits.

Next time I'm gonna try paint stripper because it was a lot of work to get it down to this level and next time I'm going to remove the plastic parts entirely to make my job easier. Shame I don't have a before picture because the difference is night and day... it's bothered me since I bought the car. Going to tackle the driver's side panel next.

Does anyone know the part number to this door locking button? I ordered one and it's the U.S version or something (wrong way round), gutted!
