I have a used OEM part that has no markings on it. I can send photos as soon as I get to it. It needs one of the small bolts replaced because it stripped when I tried to open it for cleaning and further inspection.

I'm sure many have had this problem but can someone help me identify my ED30? I've contacted multiple VW dealers in my country (RO) as well as the dealer from which my car was bought (in CZ) but none have been able to provide a number. My car doesnt have the placque.

Picking this up after many years, did you end up cutting the holes for the washer jets?
.... Whether OEM steel or aftermarket carbon, the bonnet doesn't have holes for the washer jets on the Mk5 GTI.
Buzzing noise when starting

Hi, I have a 2009 MK5 GTI. When starting cold, the car makes a strange buzzing noise for a few seconds. The noise is coming from the intake area, not the cam chain cover. I have checked the cam and it is not worn, and have cleaned the oil line.
Does anyone know what could be the cause? Thanks.

Hey guys
background info: bought a 2007 mk5 Golf GTi about 6-7 months ago, found a decent deal on one with only 70k miles. It'#039s still on it'#039s original rev C DV. Had a stage one remap a couple of months ago.
So... last couple weeks I'#039ve noticed it'#039s just not throwing you back in your seat when you floor it any more, it'#039s been a gradual loss of boost so pre

Personally I'#039ve pulled a big chunk of metal out of my engine and it'#039s still running to this day. I changed the connecting rod bearings (in situ) but the metal chunk wasn'#039t from them. Still a mystery.
If you haven'#039t already ordered a replacement engine I still recommend doing an oil pressure test, you don'#039t need a whole in-cabin oil pressure gauge setup, just a cheap

Yes.....Replaced the N75 last week, as all valves start to wear. It was quite an awkward position to get to.
Not sure if it is me, but after a quick drive the car pulls harder and feels more positive now......hard to explain, but appears to be a worthwhile task.
Original was a 2005 version D and now on a 2023 version F.

Noice I have a similar pile of stuff awaiting fitment to the ol' Bimmer. Our MK6 TDI also had an MOT advisory on a failing CV boot, and one of the console bushes has gone. Luckily I kept a load of parts back from my ED30, so had all that and more in stock ready to go on Still going like a trooper that thing Very reliable and fun car.

Bumping this thread.
Quoted today £1159 from a main VW dealer for this Independent garage I'#039ve MOTed the car with for last three years of ownership said £500 labour but didn'#039t quote the part, so probs £850ish from them?
Bit pricey no?

Coloured links are a fitment aid only and not critical. nbsp They are more common and useful on engines with several sprockets, but on the GTI with only 2 sprockets, it'#039s no big deal.
So long as the cams are in the right position, you'#039re golden. Just remember to tweak the inlet cam a few degrees anti clockwise when fitting the chain to make sure it has the correct tension

These are my clocks.
To me it looks like either the speedo has been changed with one from a different car or a different face has been stuck over the original to maybe change from km/h to mp/h. Is the car an import?

Doom and gloom - Could be a broken piston/ringlands - leak down and compression test required.
