I havent touched the vac pump and no ETA when I'#039ll get to it as I was busy fitting S3 brakes front and back and refreshing the turbo with an anti surge core. I'#039ve replaced the 3 plastic rings around the VVT adjuster but no difference. I have massive misfires on cyl 3 when idle. It sometimes logs 20, sometimes 80 before it reset. My camshafts look worn out, pitted and rusted so la

Updates updates.
So after loosing oil pressure during a track day some 8 months ago, I have been saving money and deciding how to proceed. I spend a long time with my heart set on buying a CDL block but after looking at a lot of expensive engines with no guarantee, or service history. Or '#039rebuilt'#039 engines that seem to have been assembled from random used parts and chea
Brake pads - which type?

Hi guys,
Is there a way of finding out which brake pads you have? I notice on most of the part sites that there are a couple of variants. I've got a standard, 1.6 FSi BLF.
Thanks!

Very interesting thread and thanks for posting the finished result!
I have always disliked the Mk5 GTI instruments because they are so difficult to read!! Obviously the rev counter is easy to read and I can hear the revs anyway. My solution to the speedo is to have a Road Angel with digital display in line-of-sight centrally at the base of the windscreen. The OEM speedo

'quattro' GTi Possible?
Last Poster: Marticus in Mk5 General Area on June 23, 2025, 08:23:55 am
Hi all,
As I'#039ve been on the lookout for a replacement engine, an A3 8p has come into my local breakers with a BWA engine, but it'#039s also quattro.
Doing a 4wd conversion is something that'#039s been sitting in the back of my mind for a while, so I'#039m wondering if it worth grabbing some of the other components at the same time.
Obviously they'#039re the sa

Sorted it by using OBDelelven, the long coding is easier to understand on there than VCDS - literally an on/off menu!
