Mk5 General Area / Re: Rear wiper arm part number

Just be careful with ebay specials though, cheap as chips but the spring wasn't strong enough to push the whole wiper against the windscreen. Genuine VW one so much better.

@richtung do you have a part number for the cap? Mine is now light grey instead of black

I agree, I bought a cheapy which didn't contact the screen hard enough and then had to buy genuine one. There's a lot of truth the saying "If you buy cheap, you buy twice".

Mk5 General Area / Full FIS Menu accessibility
« Last post by Simeonv on Today at 07:11:44 am »
The car is a 05 plate MK5 BKD with retrofitted highline clocks and updated CAN Gateway so I can use the RNS 510. I've red numerous themes about accessing the FIS menu through the wiper stalk (no MFSW) but didn't get to the bottom of it. Everywhere it's stated that by holding for a couple of seconds the up/down buttons on the stalk enters the menu but it does nothing on my end, just changing the shown data (elapsed time since start, consumption etc).
Is there anything else that I'm missing, maybe something related to coding.

Don't put too much oil on them, you don't want to saturate the maf sensor.

Just a helpful hinto fro anyone having to replace the rear wiper arm.

The new part from VW is £55 and the cap is £7.

I sourced a Febi branded one for £21. The model is Febi 177730. Direct replacement and includes cap. The wiper arm is of a decent quality and well made.

Handy hint - if you are having to replace the wiper arm due to the plastic cracking and the central ring spinning freely, remove the arm and leave the silver ring on the spindle. The ring is usually seized in place on the spindle. Save your effort trying to pull/lever it off - potentially causing damage. Just use a Dremel and cut a deep notch into the silver ring and then use a flat head screwdriver to leave the ring apart. It comes straight off the spindle.

Yes. They even sell their own cleaning kit.

I've seen a comparison on YT which said the 55's were net inferior to the 45's, regardless of what Bevinsee claims. Less light and more power consumption. Tho it's possible they updated the design since then. You should search for some comps on youtube.

I cant find the 45 but i did find the v55. Do you think they are the same or maybe just a better version of the 45's?
Thank you.

I've got the oversized Ramair and buy the ramair cleaning kit which is a cleaner and oil (i did research if another cleaner would be ok but couldn't get a definitive answer). So you use all the cleaner and then a light misting of oil which means you end up with nearly a full bottle of oil left over, but you can't buy them separately so just end up with loads of oil left over each time, bit of a waste really.
