General Area / Replacement Monza Alloys
« Last post by Phil H on October 17, 2025, 07:42:57 pm »
HI guys,
I'm looking to replace my Monza alloys on my Mkv GTI {2004/2005}.....
I've seen a set for sale and the seller has sent some photos of the serial numbers etc on the inside of the rims - photos are not great but I think this is correct:
CAA 063
MAX LOAD 690KG
ET 4.5
18X801
JUL VLA
- Anyone know if these are ok for my car?

I thought there's two types of rack excluding mk6.
How do I know the difference,  do both have the steering angle sensor in the rack or column?
What I mean is will the column clock part have any chance of fixing the light/fault if replaced pls?

All this is like Scottish fixing the starship enterprise!
Is there any company reliable to take this work on and not remove fortune from wallet pls?
I'd be annoyed if all that work was done and the stupid yellow light was on the dash.
Ten out of ten for perseverance...

Was there an outcome to this please?
What if the wheel speed sensors were OK?

Code G85
No communication from steering sensor.
Will not clear.
The Old VW Favourite.
Amber steering light not red.
Abs speed sensors ok even the back ones sadly  , I could do that but not miracles.

Mmm tried the lock to lock a few times.
Braking and turning the same time.
Driving in circles.
Last time battery disconnected it did learn. After 60 miles. On a straight bit of road.
This time on over 100 miles.no joy.
Grrrr....
Need an alternative way to put light out , permanently and   ideally not removing the dial binnacle or gaffer tape. Any way possible legit  or not.
Thanks for the suggestions I'm all ears

Yes, if battery has been disconnected steering full lock in both directions and hold for a couple of seconds in each lock stop. Also a short drive in a straight line. Although if there's any faults on the ABS such as rear sensors then the lights will not clear.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that if you disconnect the battery and have some warning lights afterwards you simply just need to drive it and use it normally and it will calibrate the sensors and the lights will go out.  Try that before anything else
