Nothing to worrie about there with that graph, Mike. No evidence of surge at all  :happy2:

How would it manifest itself in the graph & on the road?  :happy2:

You would need to log boost and air flow you will see peaks in your air flow logs where they should be linear with rpm and boost.
Surge happens on the spool up just before peak boost. The KO4 tfsi turbo can suffer from a slight comp surge from the fast spooling help by the manifold flaps, its gives of a waste gate chatter sound on the inital spool up.    99% of all tuned k04 tfsi suffer from this sound and IMO its a slight surge point and nothing to worry about or avoid.

Mike how are getting on with the bumpsteer kit?

like you i have the TT control arms and alloy hubs

the kit is very low down on the thread and is making an aweful creaking (don't know if that's related), been to my indie and he said that the rose joints were wearing already hence the creaking.

how you fairing?  :happy2:

No creaking yet. Do have some knocking at low speeds I'm trying to diagnose though.  I will ask Alex to check how many threads I have on the bump steer. When fitting the diff

Cool mate, looking forward to that now! :jumping:

Where are you based again now? I know you've already told me but my memory is cr@p! :ashamed:
If your coming from down my way(ish) then we could head up together? :grouphug:

Just PM me about the SACHS stuff mate, I'm back from skiing now (as you've probably guessed) so can get things sorted!

Hey Mike!

Glad you got to go to the dyno, looks pretty good.  Dyno Dynamics should read lower than what you see on most other makes of dyno.

Remember, the numbers quoted from the Golf R were on a DynaPack.

About the "surge"........

You can see it in the MAF data.  You can see it in the boost data and you can hear it.  Everything about it adds up to surge and surge is something you always want to avoid on a turbocharged application as it can create a premature failure of the turbocharger.

That being said, you are not experiencing the classic or standard definition of surge.  Your turbocharger is perfectly safe.  As I've stated previously, I'll speak more about what people are calling "surge" regarding the ko4 and 2.0T FSI soon.

I don't like that dip.  I want to fix that.  I am not sure what it is but my car does not do it.

Is there a time in March when I can trade cars with you to work on the dip?

Cheers!
